About me

Mark Peart is a lecturer in Primary School Education with specialism in Digital Technologies at the University of Glasgow. He has previous taught and supervised dissertations at the University of Extremadura (Spain). In this University, he obtained his undergraduate in Primary School Teaching, his MSc in Research in Teacher Training and ICT. It is also where he achieved his PhD in Education, exploring the development of digital and socio-civic skills for promoting digital citizenship education and youth participation. 

In parallel to achieving his degrees, he has nearly 10 years experience as a Primary School Teacher working with children aged 6 to 12 years old, while also assuming leadership roles related to Digital Education and CPD for teachers. Also, he has ample experience related to volunteering and promoting youth participation, having dedicated more than 15 years to working with non-formal education and NGO youth sections. 

He is an emerging academic and researcher, gaining experience ad producing scientific outputs in the field of Education. Currently, he has several papers, published in high-ranking journals and ample portfolio in international conferences. Ha has also participated as a reviewer in several indexed journals. 

His current research focuses on digital education, active methodologies in Primary School and the pedagogical application of technologies. In addition to the development of digital literacy, competences and skills and how they relate to wider social and educational context, transformative education, social justice education and the promotion of Digital Citizenship education.

Current and previous posts

2024 to present. Lecturer in Teacher Education (Primary Education with specialism in Digital Technologies) at the University of Glasgow (UK). Lecturer in Educational courses and supervising MEduc disserations. 

2020 - 2023. Lecturer in Education at the University of Extremadura. Lecturer in BA and MA modules related to Digital Education, School Organisation, Educational Theory, Teaching methodologies and Research Methods in Education.  As well as supervising undergraduate dissertations relating to social cohesion, promoting participation and engagement within schools and digital citizenship.

2015 - 2023. Primary School Teacher (Year 6) and English as a Foreign Language Teacher in several key stages. In addition to this role, my duties also include ICT Coordination and Continuous Teacher Training Officer.
